Principal's Message

Welcome to the Great Lakes Adventist Academy web site. We invite you to look around and get acquainted with all that is offered.

Great Lakes Adventist Academy has a proud heritage. After all, we've been here more than a hundred years and we also represent Adelphian, Cedar Lake and Grand Ledge Academies. We're proud of our past because it represents thousands of wonderful students. You will notice we stay loyal to our past and our alumni are important. They are our friends. But we really emphasize the future-student by student.

Great Lakes Adventist Academy is a secondary boarding school operated by the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Although students come primarily from Michigan, they also generally represent over fifteen other states and a few foreign countries.

Our goals are holistic. We want to help develop well-balanced young people. We believe in health. That's why we built a new comprehensive Fitness Center. Most people spend much of life at work, so we teach valuable principles to prepare students for their future. Virtually all students work. They help us accomplish almost everything we do.

Academics are important at Great Lakes so we hire good teachers and seriously challenge our students to do their best. About 88-90% of our graduates go on to college. Classes are challenging, but students tend to know their teachers well and get help, when needed. Today, an excellent academic education is more important than ever, yet students also need training in integrity, courtesy, morality, honest work and a Christian world view. Important values are taught in a warm, supportive atmosphere, where teaching is excellent and creative.

Spiritual values are the reason we exist. We plan for each student to begin or continue a sound relationship with Christ. Students and guests report experiencing an atmosphere which is both encouraging and respectful. We work carefully to have a campus where students, faculty and staff can together grow as Christians.

When students graduate from Great Lakes Adventist Academy we hope they have had strong preparations for life. Please look over this web site. Contact us if you have questions. Visit us when appropriate. We would like to get acquainted with you. Thanks for checking in with us.

Sincerely,

Raymond D. Davis, Ed.D.
