Blessings to you, an alumnus of Cedar Lake Academy. About 20 years ago, a special Alumni Weekend was started for those who graduated 50 plus years ago from Cedar Lake Academy. It has been a wonderful time for those special classes to meet for a complete weekend: meeting together, eating together and sharing memories of those wonderful years spent at Cedar Lake Academy.
In addition to the traditional Alumni Weekend held at GLAA in October for alumni of all Michigan boarding academies, there is a special one for the alumni of Cedar Lake Academy that takes place in June.
For over a decade, GLAA has hosted the “Ye Olde” CLA Alumni Reunion for those who attended or graduated from Cedar Lake Academy 50 or more years ago. Alumni, Larry Pumford (CLA ’45) birthed the idea for this special weekend. As we age, memories seem to increase in importance. Getting in touch with old friends that were a part of CLA memories makes for a very special weekend. Former school mates and spouses along with faculty gather from all over the country, usually the second weekend in June, to reminisce, bring each other up-to-date with what is happening in their lives, worship, eat and share in other ways with each other. Two classes are honored each year; the 60-year and the 50-year graduating classes. The former class is usually responsible for Friday night vespers. The 50-year class is in charge of presenting the Sabbath School and Church services. Other activities utilize the talents and skills of attendees that were in many cases cultivated and used while attending CLA.
A warm welcome is extended to attend the next “Ye Olde” CLA Alumni Reunion weekend. Information will be sent out to all of those who fit the above criteria regarding this special weekend if your address is in the GLAA database. If GLAA does not have your current address, please contact Beth Wallace by sending her a message below or by telephone (989) 427-2420, or by mail at P.O. Box 68, Cedar Lake, MI 48812, so you may receive the needed registration information.

On April 2, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer rolled out Executive Order 2020-35, which mandates a “suspension of in-person K-12 instruction for the remainder of 2019-2020 school year”
Unless restrictions on public gatherings and use of school buildings is lifted before the end of the 2019-2020 school year,” it is unlikely that we will have graduation this year as scheduled on May 24, 2020. Unless the pandemic miraculously disappears sooner than expected, Great Lakes Adventist Academy will seek an alternate date in the future to hold a graduation ceremony for our seniors.
Great Lakes Adventist Academy, along with the other schools in the Michigan Conference, will continue forward with distance education for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
In an effort to keep our school family safe during this time, and to remain in compliance with social distancing orders and recommendations, we are kindly asking that you be patient and wait until those restrictions are lifted to come and get your child’s belongings and move them out of the dorms.
Parents and students will be notified via email of any updates.
