“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
– Matthew 5:16
The goals of this team are to show students and others what can be
accomplished when God-given talents are used in a creative and
Christ-like environments. Students are able to demonstrate good decision
making by choosing a Christian lifestyle which includes enhancing our
relationship with Jesus in part by being alcohol, tobacco, and drug
free. We promote these lifestyles on tours including at public schools
where we cannot talk about God. We strive to improve personal skills as
well as encouraging others and work together as a team.
The Aerokhanas Gymnastics (Aeros) team is one of the many options available to witness to others at Great Lakes Adventist Academy. The Aeros tour throughout Michigan, having about five weekend tours, a Week of Prayer tour to a sister academy in the U.S., and a weeklong tour in April. The April tour, called our “Listen America tour”, is where we travel in a concentrated area of Michigan for a week, performing at public schools and other facilities, promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging others to stay drug and alcohol free. On Weekend Tours our team does each of the following things in their entirety:
Aeros is a group of students and staff members who use physical, spiritual, and emotional talents to show God’s love.
Lillian Mapes (Girls’ Captain) Lillian is a four year senior and has been a member of the Aerokhanas gym team for the past three years. She loves the spiritual and physical growth she has experienced since joining the team, and she’s very excited to help lead out for the 2024-25 school year. She is looking forward to seeing how God leads her and the team this year and she can’t wait to meet her new team mates and other new students.

He hopes to grows closer to God this year in a way that he never has before. He is so grateful for his time on Aeros and for everyone on the team, and he can’t wait to see the changes in the GLAA Aeros Family this year.
Matt Price (Coach) Coach Price is our head coach and is beginning his second year here at Great Lakes Adventist Academy. Prior to coming to GLAA, he served as the Head Boys Dean and Coach at Highland View Academy from 2018 to 2023. They continue to be excited to be in Michigan where the Lord has called them to continue His work.

On April 2, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer rolled out Executive Order 2020-35, which mandates a “suspension of in-person K-12 instruction for the remainder of 2019-2020 school year”
Unless restrictions on public gatherings and use of school buildings is lifted before the end of the 2019-2020 school year,” it is unlikely that we will have graduation this year as scheduled on May 24, 2020. Unless the pandemic miraculously disappears sooner than expected, Great Lakes Adventist Academy will seek an alternate date in the future to hold a graduation ceremony for our seniors.
Great Lakes Adventist Academy, along with the other schools in the Michigan Conference, will continue forward with distance education for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
In an effort to keep our school family safe during this time, and to remain in compliance with social distancing orders and recommendations, we are kindly asking that you be patient and wait until those restrictions are lifted to come and get your child’s belongings and move them out of the dorms.
Parents and students will be notified via email of any updates.
